always wanted to try your hand at machine quilting? here's your chance to gain basic skills while making an adorable and utilitarian project: oven mitts! a $10 supply fee will cover the cost of the special heat-resistant batting and a copy of the pattern(see below.) btw: valuable finishing techniques like how to bind a quilt will also be taught. yay! please know how to wind a bobbin and thread a machine before signing up for a class. (we have lots of intro to sewing machine classes if you need help with the skills!)

to keep things real, we decided to offer a start to finish "how to quilt" class with artist/quilter julie floersch in the form of a pillow. simply make more blocks of this traditional single irish ring pattern, and you'll have yourself a quilt (also shown in the link above.)
this workshop will focus on the following techniques:
- rotary cutting, string piecing
- creating a quilt block and piecework
- attaching piecework to batting and backing + pin basting
- how to machine quilt
- and finishing techniques like binding & mitering corners
please know how to wind a bobbin and thread a machine before signing up for this class.
